March 9-13
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with art work and the March book review activity (I apologize, I meant to put this in their envelopes last week, but did not). Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Spring Picture Day
Spring picture day is this Wednesday! Make sure your student dresses their best.
1:25 Dismissal
Monday and Tuesday are early dismissal days for spring conferences. Students will be released at 1:25.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will begin Benchmark Unit 7, Developing a Nation. This unit explores the essential question, "How do communities evolve?" This week, we will read "The Open Road" and "Dust Bowl Refugees." We ended up having a lot of other things to do last week, so we will be finished Unit 7 Week 1 this week.
The Unit 7 Week 1 quiz will be on Friday.
Writing: This week, students will work on an opinion writing piece that mirrors the structure of CAASPP performance tasks.
Spelling and Grammar: This week we will continue with our weekly Spelling and Grammar trifold activity. These go along with our Benchmark units and will help students practice important skills. Students will have plenty of time in class to work on this activity, but will be required to take it home as homework if they do not complete it.
Math: This week, we will finish Module 4: Foundations for Fraction Operations, Topic D: Add and Subtract Fractions. In topic D, students add and subtract fractions less than or equal to 1 and subtract a fraction from a whole number. We will also begin Module 4, Topic E. In topic E, students use familiar whole-number strategies to add and subtract mixed numbers.
*Topic D Quiz on Tuesday
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
