ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great weekend! It was so wonderful to speak with many of you at conferences last week. Your support and partnership in your child's education is so important. Gaining more insight into your student helps me continue to tailor lessons so each student can get what they need.
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Module 1 Assessment, Topic E math quiz and ELA Unit 2 week 3 quiz. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.

After speaking with many of you at conferences, I realized I would be sending some online resources to many families. It seems like it would benefit everyone, so I have added a new page on my website for helpful links. These include articles for kids, math practice, and more. If you ever come across a site that you find helpful for your student, please feel free to send me the link so I can add it to the helpful links page!
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will be reading a short text called "Hats Off to the President: A White House Mystery." Students will work on summarizing activities to help strengthen important test-taking skills.
Writing: Students will work with peers to edit and revise their amusement park stories and turn in their finished products. We will begin a new writing assignment this week based on a text we read a couple of weeks ago, "The Gnat and the Lion." Students will work on including dialogue in their writing by crafting a Narrative entitled, "A Conversation with the Gnat."
Math: This week, we will begin Module 2, Topic A. We did not end up starting it last week, as students needed a bit more practice on Module 1 concepts before the test.
In topic A, students revisit their multiplication and division facts from grade 3, represent multiplication and division with familiar models, and continue to strengthen their understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division. They do so while building conceptual understanding of multiplying and dividing multiples of 10 by one-digit numbers. This conceptual understanding is essential to the rest of the module as it prepares students to multiply two-digit by one-digit numbers and divide two-digit by one-digit numbers.
The Topic A Study Guide will come home on Wednesday and the quiz will be on Thursday. Students will be taking a math review quiz on Friday based on the skills they practice in their daily math homework assignment.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
REMINDERS
Please take care of all folders that come home, they need to last the whole year!
