This week, they will come home with their graded Topic C math quiz. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
October Book Review Due on Friday:
Please send your student with their October Book Review by Friday. I will be placing the November Book Review in Yellow Envelopes next week.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will continue Benchmark Unit 4 "Understanding Different Points of View." This unit explores the essential question, "What do we learn when we look at the world through the eyes of others?" In this unit, students will read and compare the points of view in different selections and analyze how point of view affects a story. This week, we will be reading "Quiet!" and "Balto, a Heroic Dog."
Writing: This week, we will continue a writing assignment based on a text we read a couple of weeks ago, "The Gnat and the Lion." Students will work on including dialogue in their writing by crafting a Narrative entitled, "A Conversation with the Gnat."
Math: This week, we will work on Module 2, Topic D. In topic D, students apply multiplication and division strategies and representations from previous topics to convert customary length units, investigate the perimeter and area of rectangles, and solve measurement word problems. Units of measurement include yards, feet, and inches.
Students will be bringing home the Topic D Study Guide on Thursday and will take the quiz on Friday.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
