August 25-29
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Despite some unforeseen challenges, we had a great first week of school! I was so impressed with how the students followed directions as we moved throughout the campus on Thursday during the power outage. They did an amazing job! I appreciate your patience during the checkout process. I know everyone was eager to get out of the heat, but your patience and understanding helped me make sure each student got home safely.
We have been working to build our classroom community and will continue to do so this week. Students have been participating in community circles, partner shares, games, and various activities to get to know each other. This week, students will be writing class rules and working on important exercises in teamwork and perseverance.
Back to School Night: Back to School Night will be on September 3rd. I will be explaining the curriculum, classroom procedures and expectations, the importance of reading, and how you can support your student at home. Make sure to mark September 3rd in your calendar!
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will be starting Benchmark Advance Unit 1, Government in Action. In this unit, students will read and compare selections about the different things governments do to understand how governments influence our lives.
Writing: We will begin to work on narrative writing this week. Students will work on using a graphic organizer to prepare to write a narrative.
Math: This week, we will begin working on Module 1, Topic A. Students will use models and multiplicative comparison language to represent multiplicative relationships. Students will be working on a multiplication chart in class to practice and to use as we work on Topic A.
Homework: We will begin homework this week. Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
Class Dojo: If you have not yet joined Class Dojo, please be sure to do so! This is the main method of communication. I will post the newsletter on Class Dojo weekly, along with important announcements and class photos. Click the link to join: Class Dojo
Surveys: Please remember to fill out the surveys if you have not already done so.
REMINDERS
Please take care of all folders that come home, they need to last the whole year!
Please check and sign your student’s communicator daily
Remember to pack a water bottle during these warm months! (only water is permitted in the classroom.)
Looking forward to another great week!
Thank you!
