Book Review Due This Tuesday
Please make sure your student brings their Book Review page on Tuesday 9/30, the last day of September. If it is already ready, I'm happy to collect it tomorrow as well. The October Book Review page will be in the Tuesday Envelope this week.
*Please remember this is meant to be a low pressure way to engage with books at home. This is a way to get your student thinking about what they read. It should not take your child too long. Please let me know if you have any questions about this assignment.
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Topic D math quiz. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. There will not be an ELA quiz in the envelope this week, as weeks 1 and 2 are combined for grades. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Fall Conferences:
Fall conferences are just a couple of weeks away! There are still some slots open. Please be sure to sign up for a time slot if you have not done so. I am looking forward to discussing your student's progress.

OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will be continuing Benchmark Advance Unit 2, Characters' Actions and Reactions. In this unit, students will read and compare characters in fables, fairy tales, and fantasies and analyze their actions and reactions. We will be working on our Week 2 packet this week. Students will take the Unit 2 Week 2 quiz on Friday. This week, we will be reading "Come Away, Come Away!"
Writing: We will continue working on narrative writing this week. Students will continue working on a narrative about an amusement park. Students will finish drafting their stories and prepare to write the final draft.
Math: This week, we will begin Module 1, Topic E. In topic E, students express metric units of length, mass, and liquid volume in terms of smaller units and solve word problems that have measurement contexts. Topic E only has two lessons, so we will be completing the study guide on Tuesday and taking the quiz on Wednesday. Topic E is the final topic of Module 1, so students will begin the Module 1 Study Guide on Monday. The Module 1 test will be next Wednesday 10/8.
We will be starting Module 2 on Wednesday. Module 2 delves into place value concepts for multiplication and division.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
Class Dojo: If you have not yet joined Class Dojo, please be sure to do so! This is the main method of communication. I will post the newsletter on Class Dojo weekly, along with important announcements and class photos. Click the link to join: Class Dojo
