October 6-10
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great weekend! Fall conferences are in a week, so please sign up if you have not yet done so! You will be receiving a form to fill out prior to the conference to help me ensure that we can make the most of each conference. Please make sure those are returned to me by Friday. I am looking forward to discussing your student's progress.

Minimum Days Next Week
*We will have noon dismissal Monday-Friday next week (October 13-17) for conferences.
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Topic E math quiz and ELA Unit 2 weeks 1 and 2 quizzes. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Daily Math Review Homework Begins This Week
Students will begin daily math review homework starting on Monday 10/6. This assignment has columns for Monday-Thursday, much like how their cursive pages have sections for each day of the week. This will be due on Fridays. We will go over the Monday column on Tuesdays to make sure students are on the right track and will correct the remainder of the assignment on Fridays.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will be finishing Benchmark Advance Unit 2, Characters' Actions and Reactions. In this unit, students will read and compare characters in fables, fairy tales, and fantasies and analyze their actions and reactions. We will be working on our Week 3 packet this week. Students will take the Unit 2 test on Friday. This week, we will be reading "How Dorothy Saved the Scarecrow."
Writing: We will continue working on narrative writing this week. Students will finish working on a narrative about an amusement park.
Math: This week, we will continue Module 2, Topic A. In topic A, students revisit their multiplication and division facts from grade 3, represent multiplication and division with familiar models, and continue to strengthen their understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division. They do so while building conceptual understanding of multiplying and dividing multiples of 10 by one-digit numbers. This conceptual understanding is essential to the rest of the module as it prepares students to multiply two-digit by one-digit numbers and divide two-digit by one-digit numbers.
Students will be bringing home the Module 1 Study Guide on Monday to review for their test. The Module 1 test will be on Wednesday 10/8.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
Class Dojo: If you have not yet joined Class Dojo, please be sure to do so! This is the main method of communication. I will post the newsletter on Class Dojo weekly, along with important announcements and class photos. Click the link to join: Class Dojo
