Monday: APEX Fun Run Assembly
This year, Tierra Linda students will be participating in the APEX Fun Run fundraiser! I will be sending out more information about this on Monday 9/15.
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Topic B math quiz and Unit 1 weeks 1 and 2 ELA quizzes. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Remember, the ELA quizzes are very challenging. Scores are expected to begin low and grow throughout the year. Encourage your student to celebrate the questions they answered correctly and review those they did not. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Fall Conferences:
Fall conferences are next month! Please sign up for a time slot at your earliest convenience. I am looking forward to discussing your student's progress.
Thank you to those of you who let me know the link was not working. I tried to add a new link, but please let me know if you are not able to access the SignUp. It seems to work when emailed individually, so please let me know if you are having trouble accessing it.

OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will be finishing Benchmark Advance Unit 1, Government in Action. In this unit, students will read and compare selections about the different things governments do to understand how governments influence our lives. We will be working on our Week 3 packet this week. Students will take the Unit 1 assessment on Friday. This is a longer assessment and will be challenging. I will be reminding students to give themselves grace, as these assessments are designed for students at the end of 4th grade.
Writing: We will continue working on narrative writing this week. Students will be beginning a narrative about an amusement park. Students will learn various narrative writing techniques and will work with a partner to edit their stories.
Math: This week, we will work on a study guide for Module 1, Topic C. We will begin Module 1, Topic D this week. In topic D, In topic D, students build fluency with addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers by using the standard algorithm, and they solve multi-step word problems.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
Class Dojo: If you have not yet joined Class Dojo, please be sure to do so! This is the main method of communication. I will post the newsletter on Class Dojo weekly, along with important announcements and class photos. Click the link to join: Class Dojo
