October 20-24
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great weekend! It was so wonderful to speak with many of you at conferences last week. Your support and partnership in your child's education is so important. Gaining more insight into your student helps me continue to tailor lessons so each student can get what they need.
Halloween Party:
We will be having a Halloween Party next Friday 10/31 from 8:45-10:10. The parade will be after recess and Halloween-related activities will end at 11:30. We will be doing some quizzes after the activities are finished.
If you would like to volunteer to run a center for the part, please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4EAFAA23A6FEC61-59733071-halloween
Wear orange on Wednesday for Unity Day!
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Math Review Quiz 1&2 (scores have been combined) and Topic B math quiz. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will begin Benchmark Unit 4 "Understanding Different Points of View." This unit explores the essential question, "What do we learn when we look at the world through the eyes of others?" In this unit, students will read and compare the points of view in different selections and analyze how point of view affects a story. This week, we will be reading "Here, Boy" and "Waiting for Stormy."
Writing: This week, we will begin a new writing assignment this week based on a text we read a couple of weeks ago, "The Gnat and the Lion." Students will work on including dialogue in their writing by crafting a Narrative entitled, "A Conversation with the Gnat."
Math: This week, we will work on Module 2, Topic C. In topic C, students divide two- and three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers.
Students will be bringing home the Topic C Study Guide on Thursday and will take the quiz on Friday.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
