September 22-26
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great weekend! Your students have been doing such a great job with the APEX fundraiser! We got to have a water balloon fight last week because we got the most shares! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share and donate.
APEX Fun Run!
The APEX Fun Run is this Thursday! Volunteers are welcome to come and help count laps and cheer on students as they run.
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Topic C math quiz and Unit 1 Assessment. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Remember, the ELA quizzes are very challenging. The class average was around 10/19 total points on the Unit 1 Assessment. Encourage your student to celebrate the questions they answered correctly and review those they did not. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Fall Conferences:
Fall conferences are next month! Please sign up for a time slot at your earliest convenience. I am looking forward to discussing your student's progress.
Thank you to those of you who let me know the link was not working. I tried to add a new link, but please let me know if you are not able to access the SignUp. It seems to work when emailed individually, so please let me know if you are having trouble accessing it.

OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will be starting Benchmark Advance Unit 2, Characters' Actions and Reactions. In this unit, students will read and compare characters in fables, fairy tales, and fantasies and analyze their actions and reactions. We will be working on our Week 1 packet this week. Students will take the Unit 2 Week 1 quiz on Friday. This week, we will be reading "The Gnat and the Lion"/The Gnat and the Bull," "Snow White Meets the Huntsman," and "Melamut the Crocodile."
Writing: We will continue working on narrative writing this week. Students will continue working on a narrative about an amusement park. Students will learn various narrative writing techniques and will work with a partner to edit their stories.
Math: This week, we will work on a study guide for Module 1, Topic D on Thursday and will complete a quiz on Friday. In topic D, students build fluency with addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers by using the standard algorithm, and they solve multi-step word problems.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
Class Dojo: If you have not yet joined Class Dojo, please be sure to do so! This is the main method of communication. I will post the newsletter on Class Dojo weekly, along with important announcements and class photos. Click the link to join: Class Dojo
