December 8-12
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Topic B Math Quiz. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will be working on a Novel Study of Love That Dog. We will be reading and interpreting the poems, as well as creating our own that follow the same format.
We are also working on a Figurative Language snow globe project. Figurative language is important to include in poetry, so we are exercising these skills.
Writing: This week, we will continue working on Opinion Writing. Students will work on some practice activities in preparation for their first Opinion piece.
Math: This week, we will be working on Module 3, Topic C. In topic C, students multiply numbers of up to four digits by one-digit numbers. We will also begin Topic D. In topic D, students build on prior knowledge—multiplying two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers, multiplying with multiples of 10, and applying the associative and distributive properties—to multiply two-digit numbers by two-digit numbers. They use area models and equations to represent the multiplication and support their work.
The Topic C Quiz will be on Wednesday.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
