ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great three-day weekend!
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Topic F Math Quiz and 1.7/1.8 Math Review Quiz. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will continue Benchmark Unit 5, Technology for a Green Future. This unit explores the essential question, "How do we make decisions about developing new technology?" This week, we will read "Green Transportation Solutions."
Writing: This week, students will finish an Opinion Writing piece about if they would rather be an octopus or a parrot. Students will begin a writing assignment about bedtimes.
Spelling and Grammar: This week we will continue with our weekly Spelling and Grammar trifold activity. These go along with our Benchmark units and will help students practice important skills. Students will have plenty of time in class to work on this activity, but will be required to take it home as homework if they do not complete it. This will be a weekly assignment for the rest of this school year.
Math: This week, we will be working on a study guide for Module 3. We will also begin Module 4: Foundations for Fraction Operations, Topic A: Fraction Decomposition and Equivalence. In topic A, students decompose whole numbers and fractions into sums of fractions. They also develop an understanding that a mixed number is the sum of a whole number and a fraction less than 1, which helps them as they rename fractions greater than 1 and rename mixed numbers.
The Module 3 Test will be on Friday.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
REMINDERS
Please take care of all folders that come home, they need to last the whole year!
