February 23-27
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great week off!
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with graded Unit 6 Week 1 & 2 quizzes, Topic B math quiz, and a math review quiz. IMPORTANT: Field trip information and two forms will be in the yellow envelope this week. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Field Trip
We will be attending the Olivas Adobe Field Trip on March 5th. We will be taking a bus and the time frame of the trip is from 8:30-12:30. They do require chaperones and our class will need 6 chaperones. If you are interested in chaperoning, please email me by the 25th of February (this Wednesday) to be put into the drawing. Please be aware I will be checking the office for your volunteer paperwork by February 27th (Friday), and if there is no paperwork filled out then you will not be put into the drawing. I will send out an email on the 27th to let parents know who was selected in the drawing.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will finish Benchmark Unit 6, Confronting Challenges. This unit explores the essential question, "How do we overcome obstacles?" This week, we will read "Hercules' Quest" and "Paul Bunyon and the Troublesome Mosquitoes."
The Unit 6 Week 3 quiz will be on Friday.
Writing: This week, students will work on opinion writing.
Spelling and Grammar: This week we will continue with our weekly Spelling and Grammar trifold activity. These go along with our Benchmark units and will help students practice important skills. Students will have plenty of time in class to work on this activity, but will be required to take it home as homework if they do not complete it.
Math: This week, we will begin Module 4: Foundations for Fraction Operations, Topic C: Compare Fractions. In Topic C, students compare fractions with unlike numerators and denominators by using models and benchmarks and by renaming fractions to create common denominators or common numerators.
We will have the Topic C quiz on Friday.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
