ANNOUNCEMENTS
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break! I am looking forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday.
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with their graded Topic D Math Quiz and the grading sheet for Love That Dog quiz 3, 4 & 5. Students complete the Love That Dog quizzes digitally, but I will be sending home a grading sheet so you can see how your student did on the quizzes and where they are at with the ELA standards. The January Book Review page will be in the Yellow Envelope this week as well. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Report Cards:
Please remember to return the yellow report card envelope if you have not yet done so.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will begin Benchmark Unit 5, Technology for a Green Future. This unit explores the essential question, "How do we make decisions about developing new technology?" This week, we will read "Town Tackles Energy Debate."
We will also be reading a bit about Martin Luther King Jr.
Writing: This week, students will complete some goal-setting writing activities to set goals for the New Year. Students will also work on a short Opinion Writing piece about bedtimes.
Math: This week, we will be working on Module 3, Topic E. In topic E, students express units of time and customary units of weight and liquid volume in terms of smaller units.
The Topic E Quiz will be on Friday.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
REMINDERS
Please take care of all folders that come home, they need to last the whole year!
