February 9-13
Hello C3 Families!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Tuesday Envelope: Every Tuesday, your child will come home with an envelope of finished work, graded quizzes and tests and announcements. This week, they will come home with some completed art projects. Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Valentines
We will be doing some crafts and exchanging valentines (optional) on Friday, February 13th. Students are welcome to bring valentines if they wish to, but this is completely optional.
We have 34 students in our class. Please do not address valentines to specific students. Instead, please have your child only sign their own name. For example:
To: My Classmate
From: Junie B.
Students will be getting bags to hold their valentines, so there is no need to bring a box from home.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will begin Benchmark Unit 6, Confronting Challenges. This unit explores the essential question, "How do we overcome obstacles?" This week, we will read "Molly Whuppie."
The Unit 6 Week 2 quiz will be on Friday.
Writing: This week, students will work on opinion writing.
Spelling and Grammar: This week we will continue with our weekly Spelling and Grammar trifold activity. These go along with our Benchmark units and will help students practice important skills. Students will have plenty of time in class to work on this activity, but will be required to take it home as homework if they do not complete it.
Math: This week, we will begin Module 4: Foundations for Fraction Operations, Topic B: Equivalent Fractions. In topic B, students use models, multiplication, and division to generate equivalent fractions and equivalent mixed numbers.
We will have the Topic B quiz on Wednesday and a Math Review Quiz on Friday.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
