Hello C3 Families!

This week, they will come home with graded Unit 6 Week 3 quiz and Topic C math quiz. IMPORTANT: Please return BOTH field trip forms before Thursday if you have not yet done so. One is the PVSD form and the other is for the City of Ventura (where the field trip is located) Please be sure to sign your student's quizzes and review the content with them. Yellow envelopes need to be returned on Thursdays.
Field Trip
We will be going to the Olivas Adobe on Thursday, March 5th.
Students should:
*have sunscreen applied before school (the field trip is outdoors all day)
*dress in layers since it is a mile from the ocean and the weather can be unpredictable
(shorts are best as students will be stepping in the mud pit)
*bring a towel (with name on it) to dry their feet and legs after getting into the mud pit to make a brick
*bring a water bottle to keep hydrated
We will be leaving at 8:30, so please make sure your student is on time. Please let me know if you have any questions.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
ELA: This week, we will begin Benchmark Unit 7, Developing a Nation. This unit explores the essential question, "How do communities evolve?" This week, we will read "The Open Road" and "Dust Bowl Refugees."
The Unit 7 Week 1 quiz will be on Friday.
Students are also working on a Reader's Theater project called "Rancho Life Under Mexican Rule 1821-1846."
Writing: This week, students will work on opinion writing.
Spelling and Grammar: This week we will continue with our weekly Spelling and Grammar trifold activity. These go along with our Benchmark units and will help students practice important skills. Students will have plenty of time in class to work on this activity, but will be required to take it home as homework if they do not complete it.
Math: This week, we will begin Module 4: Foundations for Fraction Operations, Topic D: Add and Subtract Fractions. In topic D, students add and subtract fractions less than or equal to 1 and subtract a fraction from a whole number.
Homework: Homework includes Math Apply Book pages, cursive, daily math review and 20 minutes of reading. Please refer to the Homework page on my website to view the schedule. Checking your student’s communicator is the best way to stay updated on homework. I try to stick to the homework listed on the website, but sometimes plans change and the communicator will have the most updated information.
