J-PAL provides numerous kitchen amenities for staff to use, including:
Mugs above the coffee machine
Silverware in the drawers
Milk (regular, almond) in the door of the left refrigerator
Coffee, tea, cream, sugar, hot chocolate, and honey
Ice cubes in the freezer
Plates, cups, bowls in the cabinets
Cleaning wipes, cleaning spray, paper towels, sponges in the cabinets and around the sink
There are three places in the office to get hot water:
Electric kettle on the counter in J-CAFÉ
Cold/hot instant water dispenser on the counter in J-CAFÉ to the left of the fridges
Cold/hot instant water dispenser on the table on the NA side of the yellow collaborative wall
Please treat the kitchen as you would your house. Expected behavior includes:
Making more coffee when you finish a pot
Cleaning any spills that you make
Not leaving dishes in the sink or drying rack for too long
Wiping down table if you leave crumbs
If you take the last of something (tea, paper plate, cup, etc), request that more be ordered via the supply request form.
J-PAL has a fridge and kitchen cleaning system to maintain the cleanliness of our shared space and to make sure there’s always enough room in the shared fridges. Please ask Jonathan Rowe if you have any questions or concerns about this system.
When placing a container in the fridge, please label it using a sticky note (found on top of the microwave) with your name, the date, and the date you would feel comfortable with the container being thrown away.
Once per year for one week, two staff members are assigned to clean out the fridge based on the sticky note system.
