J-PAL Procurement Card (otherwise known as the PCard):
A credit card issued to an MIT employee for the purpose of making authorized small-dollar purchases on behalf of the Institute. In compliance with MIT financial policies, use of the J-PAL PCards are restricted and can only be used for specific types of charges.
MIT has an extensive list of purchases that are unallowable on PCards, including alcohol, furniture, and greeting cards. If there is something that you would like to purchase that is on this list, please speak with Sarah Orzalli about your requested purchase.
Please see the division of labor for our PCards below:
Audrey Cabral’s PCard: HR and recruitment related purchases, including fees for Amy's job postings, registration costs for local or virtual conferences or training events, professional memberships, and the purchase of job-, career- or DEI-related books. Employees should obtain their supervisor’s approval before reaching out to Audrey about book or other professional development expenses. Audrey’s card may also be used for purchases required for Amy’s projects.
Lesley Harkins's PCard: purchases for events, office snacks, and catering for meetings
Sam Haas’ PCard: special office supplies and equipment, subscriptions, and other recurring purchases. Please see the General Office Supplies page for information on how to request a purchase.
Isaak Kifle’s PCard: HR and recruitment related purchases, including job board/advertising expenses, staff onboarding expenses and career fair registration/ other recruitment event related costs; expenses related to J-PAL NA internship program including MBTA passes. Isaak’s card may also be used as a back-up for event or supply purchases if the primary Pcard is maxed out.
Please note that if an employee is traveling for a work or professional development conference they should use a travel card to pay for it rather than a Pcard. For staff who do not have their own travel card, please contact Torey Hart for assistance with booking travel. Please make sure to submit requests for conferences through the Asana travel request form to obtain approval from your supervisor, vertical lead, and finance to attend the conference or training. F&O staff should email their requests for professional development to Liz Zuckerberg.
