J-PAL North America recommends that all managers and senior managers apply for a MIT travel card. This relieves staff of the burden of paying out-of-pocket for travel expenses and waiting for reimbursement. If you are interested in applying for an MIT travel card, or requested to apply for a card, please follow the steps below, as appropriate.
Reach out to Sarah Orzalli to determine if an MIT Travel Card is appropriate for you.
Complete MIT's 'Travel Policies for the Traveler' training in the Atlas Learning Center.
This training can be found in the Course Catalog under Administration>Financial Essentials
Fill out the MIT Travel Card Application & Agreement and send to Sarah Orzalli.
Once completed, the form will be sent to MIT travel support for review and processing.
Allow up to five business days for processing (this could take longer).
Once you receive your travel card, please call 1-888-571-1000 to activate it.
Do not throw out the envelope because it includes an activation code you will need to use.
You will use your MIT ID number to activate the card
Create and memorize a PIN number for the card. Some vendors will require you to use this PIN to complete transactions with the card.
After setting up and activating your travel card, please email Rosanne McGoldrick (rmm@travelcoll.com), our J-PAL NA travel agent at The Travel Collaborative, and provide the following information:
Your name, as it appears on the card
Card number
Expiration Date
CVV number – three-digit number on the back of the credit card
Please remind Rosanne to use your travel card for each trip going forward.
