We have been learning this unit about the rebellion of the colonists 3,000 miles away from their county.
As groups like the Sons of Liberty chose to protest and rebel against law they felt were unfair, the King of England had to decide how to handle these protests.
Respond with too much force and risk angering the people even more.
Respond with weakness and risk encouraging them to take more drastic actions.
This simulatin flips the script, fast-forwarding 20 years past the craziness in Boston to a time when George Washington is President and the people rebelling are his own American citizens.
You will be Washington and make a decision based on what you feel is best, listening to various advisors before making a final decision. How harshly will you respond to your citizens?
NOTE: YOU WILL NEED EARBUDS FOR THIS! If you don't have any, you can read the CC on the screen.
YOU NEED TO DO TWO THINGS TO COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT:
1.
Take a screenshot of the screen at the end which explains the decision you made as Washington.
Upload that screenshot to the Be Washington Doc shared on GC in the box.
2.
Answer the questions at the bottom of the doc. There are 5 reflection questions.
If the simulation does not load immediately, BE PATIENT. It may take a few minutes for everybody to get logged on. You can click refresh every :15 or so. Eventually it will work and take you to the following screen:
Click on Single Player at the bottom.
You will now see this screen. We will be playing the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion simulation. Click on that panel.
From here you will learn about this rebellion during Washington's time as President.
Play through it, listening to advisors.
At the end, make a final decision: sent the army, let the locals deal with it, or give in.
Take a screenshot of the screen where you make your final decision.
