9/11 changed the nation more than any other event in the 21st Century. Not only were nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, but thousands of others lost mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, friends and co-workers, and sons and daughters. Not only did it destroy multiple buildings and cause billions of dollars of loss to the U.S. economy, but it led to changes in how we live and function on a day to day basis.
Despite the horrible tragedy and terror of that day, there were countless men and women that became heroes, some even to the point of death. There were stories of great sacrifices from around the nation, from small towns in Montana raising money for New York, to a woman who felt like it was her calling to quilt nearly 3,000 quilts and send them to families for free. There was a great sense of unity and patriotism in the days and weeks after that day. Chants of "USA!" broke out all over the nation at various events.
A day that showed the worst in humanity ultimately brought out some of the best in humanity. As time passes, events from history can fade away. This subpage is dedicated to keeping this part of our history alive. The tragic, the heroic, and the stories that connect us all as Americans.
