The Counselor Education Faculty play a unique and comprehensive role in the practicum experience. Group supervision instructors are actively involved in the clinical development of Community Counseling Clinic (CCC) counselors through group supervision, live viewing of sessions, and mentoring the individual peer supervisors. Faculty maintain certain responsibilities that all CCC counselors must be aware of:
Faculty are charged with the group supervision of counselors, as well as live observation of sessions. Faculty will meet with their practicum sections each week for group supervision, prior to the start of clinical work.
Faculty are charged with mentoring and supporting the peer supervisors. CCC counselors should expect their peer supervisors to receive feedback, mentorship, and recommendations for supervision from the faculty instructor.
Faculty are charged with the clinical development of CCC counselors. Counselors should make clear to clients the faculty's active involvement in the counseling process, and potential for faculty to enter and mentor sessions.
Faculty are charged with enforcing and upholding all CCC Policies and Procedures. CCC counselors found in violation of clinic policies and procedures by their group supervision instructors may receive a grade of 'Fail' for practicum.
Faculty are responsible for the welfare and safety of clients in equal measure to CCC counselors. For this reason, all CCC counselors must familiarize themselves with the Crisis Policy (see Clinic Policies) and inform the group supervision instructor when there exists any risk to the client(s).
Faculty are responsible for reviewing clinical documentation, including Service Plans and Clinical Case Notes. CCC counselors must bring the completed Service Plans and Clinical Case Notes to the group supervision instructor for review and signature.
Faculty are responsible for validating and signing the Practicum Tracking Logs at each practicum meeting. CCC counselors must ensure that they report all client payments and nonpayments to their group supervision instructor. Faculty will collect all payments at the practicum meeting.
Faculty are responsible for collecting all SD cards at the end of practicum for CCC counselors. CCC counselors must ensure that they return all SD cards to their group supervision instructor at the end of practicum.
