The Community Counseling Clinic (CCC) is an active internship site. As such, all faculty, practicum counselors, and students must be aware that clients are present and receiving counseling services throughout the week. The CCC is considered an early-decision site, and Department of Counselor Education students must coordinate their application for internship with the Practicum and Internship Coordinator. Interns fulfill an essential roles in the Community Counseling Clinic, supporting the Clinic Coordinator, completing intake interviews, and conducting individual, relationship, and family counseling with clients. The CCC internship can be both a challenging and uniquely rewarding experience, as interns continuously work with clinic staff to promote excellent care for clients.
The Community Counseling Clinic maintains some specific expectations for interns:
CCC intern counselors may be expected to video record sessions with clients, and to review those sessions in accordance with the Clinic Director's instructions.Â
CCC intern counselors are expected to meet with the Clinic Director one a week for individual supervision, and to attend weekly group supervision through the Department of Counselor Education.
CCC intern counselors are expected to adhere to all policies and procedures as presented on the Clinic Policies and Procedures website.
CCC interns are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of client charts, including the timely completion of clinical documentation in accordance with the clinic's 24 hour documentation policy.
CCC intern counselors are expected to work with the Clinic Director to complete client intake processes in a manner that adheres with the clinic's 48 hour intake policy.
CCC intern counselors are expected to track their clinical contact hours and have them verified by the Clinic Director.
CCC intern counselors are expected to complete a one-year internship, working with the clinic from September through June.
The Community Counseling Clinic will provide notice for summer internship opportunities as they become available.
