*Community Counseling Clinic will be assigning three clients per practicum counselor. Counselors will be responsible for scheduling their own Zoom Meetings with their clients if conducting telehealth sessions. Practicum counselors should follow the instructions provided at the Practicum Orientation.*Â
Clients are assigned to counselors by the Clinic Director, according to their availability and client needs and preferences. When contacting the CCC, the Clinic Director or Clinic Interns conduct a full phone intake. Potential clients are then contacted by the CCC interns who conduct a thorough intake interview. The Community Counseling Clinic works diligently to ensure an intake interview within 48 hours of phone screening.
The Clinic Director will match and schedule the initial appointment with a CCC counselor, also providing clients with the Welcome Packet (i.e. welcome letter confirming appointment, payment information, and a map the appropriate clinic).
The Clinic Director works to have clients assigned at the earliest possible time after the phone intake. Practicum Instructors are informed of every referral and added to clients' securities on Titanium along with the counselor.
The CCC will make every attempt to match client demographics and presenting concern with counselors from the appropriate tracks. At the same time, the CCC also endorses the central identity of professional counselors and CCC counselors should anticipate working with a diversity of clients and client concerns.
CCC counselors should be aware that:
The CCC does not match clients based on gender, sex, sexuality, race, religion, ability, or other cultural identities unless explicitly requested by the client at intake.
The CCC does not match child or family clients based on counselor gender, sex, sexuality, race, religion, ability, or other cultural identities unless explicitly requested by the child, legal guardians, or family at intake.
The CCC may assign children/adolescents whose parents are moving through separation processes. When appropriate, the CCC must obtain legal documentation determining whom has the right to consent to mental health services.
The CCC does NOT assign clients to counselors upon request. Should clients contact the clinic because a counselor-in-training has recommended them and the client requests this counselor-in-training, the client will be informed of the clinic's referral procedures and the counselor-in-training will be contacted by the Clinic Director.
Should the Clinic Director indicate co-counseling for incoming clients, the CCC will provide professional development opportunities regarding co-counseling to help support counselors-in-training conducting co-counseling practices.
