Who Am I?
Hello folks, My name is Jada Griffin. I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, so I'm a local in this area. I am a free-spirited ball of energy who is always eager and ready to try new things. A few of my hobbies are going to the gym whenever I can and lifting some weights; any activities that require outside, I am all for it. I am a compassionate person who feels deeply and loves loving. I love shopping, specifically for clothes. If there were an Olympics for shopping, I would win gold for the USA every time. My intended major and career field is special education. I have been surrounded by educators my whole life; my mother is a social worker who worked in the education system for a while. So, I see firsthand the challenges and joy of working in the education system. On my journey of becoming a teacher, I want to impact and help guide the little kiddos on learning!!!
What I Know?
I know that teaching is not just about the children's academics but also about embracing their autonomy and giving the students tools and knowledge that will become useful in the future. One thing that I can share with my classmates that will help them become better teachers is that the world is a diverse ball of different cultures and backgrounds, so when we become teachers of these students, we should embrace, represent, and appreciate everyone's culture to promote a more inclusive environment. One thing I will teach my students that will help them become better people is that you never know what someone is going through, so treat everyone with kindness and respect.
What I have to Learn?
Something that I have to remember on my journey of working in the education system is understanding and recognizing my own biases and assumptions. In the education system, we look past our biases and do not realize the toll and effect they have on our students and us as teachers. To challenge myself, I will also push myself to understand and acknowledge my students' backgrounds and cultures so that they feel recognized and appreciated in my classroom. The teacher I strive to be is a teacher is a teacher who actively engages the students with their peers, promotes an inclusive classroom, and fosters each student's autonomy. Another skill I have to learn on my journey of becoming a teacher is working with parents. Teachers already do so much work and go beyond limits to work with their students. However, since I will be becoming a special education teacher, I will need to make sure I can efficiently and effectively work with these children's parents and communicate with them to ensure their child is meeting all their needs.
The teacher I will become?
Through my lens, I think the purpose of school is to get students to explore the depths of their minds and acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses to become better learners and human beings. When the time comes, and I am a teacher, the primary purpose and takeaway I want my students to know is that everybody learns at different paces, and gaining a new skill takes time and patience, so don't be too hard on yourselves when you feel that you are not as ahead of your other classmates. with my experience of going to the public schools I went to and the type of learner I was, I typically was behind most of my classmates and felt that I would never catch up with my classmates. To ensure my students gain this tool, I will set a classroom environment where we acknowledge and recognize everybody's learning abilities. By setting this environment, I intend to have my students understand that each student is a different learner. Still, I also hope to get my students to eventually become comfortable with talking about their strengths and weaknesses regarding their learning, not only to me as their teacher but also to their classmates.
"Like a lighthouse in a storm, I offer clarity and guidance, helping my students navigate the waves of learning with confidence and openness."
"They are sparks of light, growing into bright flames of knowledge and awareness."
Existentialism
For my AI-generated picture, I use AI chat GPT. I typed in the generator to get this picture: "Hey, chat, can you generate an image of a teacher teaching her students? Just a background of what I want the image to encompass: the teacher teaching philosophy is existentialist; the teacher is a hands-on teacher who actively engages with her students. The environment she sees in her classroom is a fun, warm, inclusive learning environment where we acknowledge and appreciate everyone's learning abilities." for my picture, I wanted the image to show the essence of what I want my classroom to look and feel like. The teacher actively engages with her students, and her students actively engage with each other and their work. I added the in my prompt to have the classroom give a warm feeling because I want my classroom also to feel comfortable and safe for my children to come and for it to look fun and excited so they are ready and excited to learn!!!
How I used AI?
I Used chat GPT to help form my about the author page. When finding a quote to describe me as a teacher and for my students, I gave Chat GPT some background info about who I am and what kind of teacher I want to encompass. I used the wording to help me generate the metaphors: "Hey chat, can you give me examples of metaphors that best describe me as a teacher? I am a 20-year-old woman who loves the gym and is free-spirited and open-minded. I love to learn new things and am eager to gain new knowledge. The educational philosophy I associate myself with is Existentialism, so before getting my AI-generated picture, I asked Chat GPT to give me some examples of what an Existentialism classroom looks like. I am familiar with Chat GPT, so the process of using GPT for this assignment was very efficient and smooth.

Hi Jada,
I absolutely love how fun and bright your page is! We share the same educational philosophy and I am so excited to be in a classroom where I can show it rather than just speak about it! I also love how education is something that you have been around for a long time and that you were positively influenced to becoming a teacher! Great work! - Jocelyn
Hi Jada, When i first opened your page I got this warm welcoming and free spirited vibe from you. I think its pretty cool how you can experience firsthand of the educational system from your mom. I also agree with you on the biases statement. I do believe we tend to stick our biases and assumpions when we need to reconginze them as being future educators. -Janiyah Howard
Hello Jada, I appreciate how your page radiates excitement. As a teacher, I understand that every student is unique and possesses their own individual personality, dreams, and goals. Too often, students are encouraged to conform to others. I admire your approach to meeting them where they are, particularly in terms of their learning abilities. -La'Kisha Jones
Your energetic and "free-spirited ball of energy," could be felt throughout the page and it would definitely rub off your students. I believe if you could easily reach your goals of educated your students and giving them the necessary tools to succeed since you can empower them with your high spirits. I could see you and your students thriving off an existentialism philosophy. I can see that you are passionate in empowering young minds, and it is prevalent within the quote you chose, which I love, "They are sparks of light, growing into bright flames of knowledge and awareness." - Rj Mendoza
