Hi! My name is Eugenia Wisneski. I was born in Minot, North Dakota and lived there until I was about 8 years old which was when my family moved to Washington State. I spent the rest of my childhood there. Once I was an adult, I lived in several states throughout the United States. My family and I moved to Virginia Beach in 2021 and plan on staying here indefinitely. My husband is in the Navy, and we have 3 kids. All the different places I have lived, people I have met, and situations I have been in has shaped me into the person I am today. It has shown me that everyone deserves respect, love, and has potential. I have always loved helping people and even though there has not been any one person that has influenced me towards teaching I have always been drawn to children and teaching.
There is so much that I have to learn to become the best teacher I can be. I need to learn classroom management so my classroom will run as smoothly as possible. I want to use my time effectively with my students so they can learn as much as they can. I also need to learn how to make sure that my lessons are engaging and keep the students interested in the topics that we are learning. I want to learn how to build a good relationship with each of my students so I can be a safe place for them to come to. In building that relationship with my students I will also find out how each of them learns which will help me teach them in the best way. The most important thing that I need remember which will help me become the teacher I want to be is that I will always be learning.
I will work to be a calm teacher who creates a peaceful and supportive environment where students feel safe to learn and grow. My classroom will be inclusive, making sure that every student feels valued and accepted, no matter their background, abilities, or experiences. I will use diverse perspectives, cultures, and ideas in my lessons and classroom so the students can see the beauty in differences. As a teacher who cares for my students, I will build meaningful relationships, so I can support not just their academic success but also their emotional well-being. I aim to be patient, giving each student the time and support they need to overcome challenges, develop confidence and learn perseverance. Above all, my classroom will be interactive, fostering active engagement, collaboration, and curiosity, where every student feels inspired to contribute and grow as a learner. By becoming this teacher and setting up my classroom to show this vision I will be using the educational philosophy of Progressivism and Essentialism. These philosophies match my ideas about good teaching because I believe that every student needs to learn foundational knowledge with hands on learning so they can change the world for the better. In order for them to be successful in changing the world they need to learn by doing, which they will by my interactive classroom. My students will also learn the basics so they can always know them and build on them as they grow in their academic career.
A first-grade classroom that balances progressivism and essentialism. The room features collaborative learning spaces with round tables, colorful educational posters, and a comfortable reading nook. It also has large windows, living plants, and calming colors.
HOW I USED AI
I used AI to create my image with ChatGPT. The prompt I used was "Create an image of a first-grade classroom that is a balance of progressivism and essentialism." It did a great job creating the image I had in my head of what I would want my classroom to look like. I also used AI to learn more about the five Educational Philosophies. I used MagicSchool, Gemini, and ChaptGPT for that. I used the superhero prompt, interior design prompt and the create a quiz prompt. They all gave me a better understanding of each of the philosophies and more ideas of what kind of teacher I want to become.
Add comments here: Good evening, I loved your what I know page. The watercolors really make the page pop. I also love the AI image that you used to describe the teacher that you want to become. Well done. I also would like to say that I found ChatGPT difficult to use. I apperciate that you found success with it. -Gabrielle Bullock
From Ella Head: First, a connection to make, I was born and raised in Washington State till I was about 14 and lived in the Bremerton/Seabeck area. It is always so amazing finding someone who has visited or lived there on the east coast. Secondly, in your "What I Know" section you had spelled "healthy" wrong. Thirdly, I also understand the classroom management. I know mine is definitely not the best and my classes can get really rowdy for long periods of time.
