Dear Parents/Guardians
Time flies and it is now the second school semester. Last term, we saw our students, working hard in various programmes and competitions, and the Secondary 4s, as the most senior level (老大), took the lead in representing the school at their best in various events. Our students’ determination and high sense of commitment have done us proud. We certainly hope that all our girls and family were able to enjoy a restful June school break and are all energized for the new school term.
This term, while being a busy one, is also one filled with celebratory events. Our girls have just had their Youth Day holiday and are next looking forward to National Day. We are very proud that our Secondary 3 students have been given the opportunity to take part in this year’s National Day Parade. After months of training, our girls had their first NE Show on 2 July, and received wonderful feedback about their positive energy and vibrancy. Most importantly, we are proud of our girls’ development into dedicated team players with a strong sense of purpose.
Besides celebrating our country’s birthday, we are also celebrating our school’s birthday in August. 15 August is the Founder’s Day of the Nanyang Family of Schools. As an established 106-year-old school, we are proud of our school heritage. In Term 2, we had our School Heritage Series, sharing the stories of our former principals and illustrious alumni with our students. The series was well received by our students. Deepening our students’ appreciation of the school heritage and values will be a highlight of the school.
In addition to all the celebrations, Term 3 is also a busy month with the C Division National School Games and the Term 3 Weighted Assessment. Juggling multiple tasks may at times be stressful and it is thus important that we give our girls space to share their thoughts and feelings, guide them to pace themselves and continue to encourage them. Our teachers will also work closely with the girls to give them the support they need.
Thank you for working hand in hand with us to nurture our girls into thoughtful and confident young ladies. Wishing you a healthy and happy year head.
C Division National School Games
We wish our lower secondary athletes all the best as they prepare and forge on for their National School Games in Term 3. As mentioned in the Term 2 letter to parents, the school will continue to send supporters to cheer for our athletes and parents/guardian are welcome to watch the games in Term 3. Do look out for related announcements that will be posted on Parents Gateway when your daughter/ward’s class is assigned to support the respective game.
Optional Reduced CCA Frequency for Secondary 3
In view of the Secondary 3’s participation in the National Day Parade, all Secondary 3 students who are involved in this national event have been given the option to reduce their CCA attendance each week between Term 3 Week 1 and Term 3 Week 7. You may find out more from your daughter/ward.
Reduced Frequency in Weekly CCA Sessions from Three to Two Times
For CCAs that have completed their CCA competitions or major events (e.g. NSG), the training frequency will be reduced from three to two times in Term 3. This is to allow students to wind down from their CCA trainings and yet keep up with their CCA participation and learning, enjoying a balanced school life.
Special Dates to Note for CCA Sessions
Suspension of CCA for End-of Year Examination Preparations
The last week of CCA sessions is Term 3 Week 10 before CCA is suspended for all students to prepare for their end-of-year examinations. CCA will resume in the week of 16 October.
