Welcome to Term 3 of the school year! We hope the June school break has been a great opportunity for you and family to unwind and enjoy quality time together.
Term 2 was an exciting term of National School Games, Festival of Arts, Life Skills Programme, Community Education and Global Classroom Programme. Through these experiences, we hope our girls have gained much learning beyond the classroom, as they step out of their comfort zone to work with different segments of people and in different environments. To maximise the students’ individual learning, it is also important that the students reflect on their takeaways. We hope the facilitated reflections and journaling on their Growth Journals will help our students gain deeper insights into their self-development. You may also want to have conversations with your child or ward to see how she will apply what she has learnt to her future activities and projects, e.g. how she will apply her executive functioning skills, foster empathy in her communication with different people and navigate a new environment.
Last Friday, our students also started the term with a meaningful funfair, Carnival Vibrante 2025, raising $44,720 worth of coupon sales. As mentioned in our previous letter, all proceeds from this year’s funfair will go towards President’s Challenge and School Upgrading Project. In addition, we are delighted that guests from our identified charitable organisations could join us, and we thank you and our staff for generously pledging your support as sponsors of the funfair tickets. We would also like to extend our appreciation to our Parents Support Group for your wonderful food, game and handicraft stalls, which brought so much joy to our funfair participants.
I am also delighted to share that we will be having a larger scale funfair open to the public in 2026. After two years of warm-up, our girls are well prepared for a funfair of this scale, with their increased entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and adaptability. It was most heartwarming to see their excitement and joy when the plan was announced to them, as they cheered for next year’s plan.
We will soon be celebrating our National Day and our school’s 108th Founder’s Day in the month of August, and many of our girls will be involved in the C Division National School Games. Thus, Term 3 is yet another action-packed term, requiring our girls to manage both their academic work and co-curricular activities, while having celebratory events in school. Our teachers will continue to work with our students to provide them with the care and support they need. More importantly, with the structures in place such as class bonding opportunities, Positive Education and parenting talks, we are also heartened to see our students’ growing ability to practise self-regulation and offer mutual support as well as our parents’ deepened understanding of teens’ development and needs, which are all critical in helping our girls to grow up as resilient and confident young people.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your trust in us. The school values the partnership with you in providing our girls with a wholesome education. I wish you more happy days ahead!
Ms Siau Fong Fui
Principal
