Dear Parents,
Term 1 has been an enriching and fulfilling journey for our girls, filled with exciting events such as the school's Orientation Programme, our vibrant Chinese New Year celebrations, and the memorable movie screening of I Not Stupid 3. We are delighted to relive these memorable moments with you in the School Happenings section and our Photo Gallery.
In this edition, we also introduce our next Parenting Sense theme—Performing Under Pressure. Through the personal experiences of our students as athletes, we explore how they manage expectations, maintain composure in high-stakes competitions, and navigate tense situations.
We hope these stories will inspire your daughters to redefine success, embrace resilience, and cultivate a growth mindset in the face of challenges.
Happy reading!
The highly anticipated Secondary One Orientation Programme kicked off with a host of stimulating bondng activities such as Amazing Race, class bonding activities and CCA fairs!
Coupled with the 3-day Induction Programme, our newest members were given ample space and time to quickly integrate into the NY family and firmly forge friendship bonds with their peers and seniors with much ease.
It was a festive start to the beginning of school term with the Chinese New Year celebrations at NYGH. Students were entertained by the captivating Lion Dance performed by our very own DALT crew before they put their Chinese Calligraphy skills to good use by writing out auspicious sayings on red couplet papers. They were then treated to a slew of captivating student performances from Chinese Orchestra, 相声 , Chinese Dance, Wushu, Modern Dance and Choir that were a true testament to the students' talents and aptitude. The school's community partners and guests from NTUC Health Senior Daycare and Touch Centre for Independent Living were also invited to the event to partake in the festivities.
Family bonding time took on a new meaning on 18 January as the girls and their parents were given the unprecedented opportunity of being invited to a mass movie screening of local comedy film, "I Not Stupid 3" together at Golden Village VivoCity! Director, Jack Neo graced the event and gave a post-screening parenting talk which included timely parenting advice - to identify and embrace their children as they are beyond their academic grades. This event would not have been possible without the generous support from NY Parents Support Group (PSG) and was certainly a great way to start the year on the right note!
Participating in school competitions is a significant milestone in every student's learning journey, offering valuable lessons in resilience, perseverance, and mental strength. Beyond the pursuit of victory, these experiences shape character, teaching students how to manage expectations, stay composed under pressure, and push forward despite setbacks.
In this edition, we hear from our very own students as they share their personal experiences as athletes—navigating intense competitions, overcoming challenges, and redefining success. Through their stories, we hope to inspire a growth mindset and encourage our students to embrace both triumphs and struggles as part of their development.
