Fifth graders showed their school spirit by dressing up as teachers!
Dear Elementary Parents and Community,
As part of our welcome process for students new to Nova, we hosted pizza lunches this week. Kindergarten and first graders gathered on Monday, and second through fifth graders met on Tuesday. These lunches allowed us to connect with our new students, learn their names, and watch them make new friends. The children felt very special, and we hope they are beginning to feel a strong sense of belonging in their new Nova home.
Featured LearningFourth Graders Learn about Different Macedonian Dialects and Why the Standard Form Is ImportantFourth graders in Ms. Eli's Phase 4 Macedonian class had the opportunity to converse with teachers who spoke in a variety of dialects. Students noticed differences in certain words and, in most cases, could identify an accent. This experience fostered greater engagement and supported the goal of distinguishing between the standard language and its dialects, while also emphasizing the importance of using standard Macedonian in communication. It was inspiring to see such meaningful collaboration among the faculty.
Friendship WeekWe started the week off with Twin Day, and the school spirit was astounding. Tuesday, we made friendship cards, and Wednesday was buddy lunch day, where younger students had a snack with older ones. Thursday was a 'Students Dress Like Staff and Staff Dress Like Students' day, which was so much fun. We ended the week with an elementary assembly, which focused on the importance of being a good friend. Each Friday, students are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing school colors or a Nova t-shirt.

Tomorrow we will have our second ES assembly for the school year. The focus will be on friendship. The Beacons of Belonging Club will host the event. Friday, we encourage students to wear school colors or Nova T-shirts.
