Lunch Menu # 1 (Week of March 9-13)
Dear Elementary Parents and Community,
It was such a pleasure to have you at school this week as guest readers. Students truly loved having you here! I would like to thank our librarians, Ms. Kay, Ms. Sonja, and Ms. Ana, for organizing this special event. It was a wonderful way to engage children in books and literature while also strengthening our sense of community.
Thank you for sharing your time with us.
Second Grade Field Trip, The Quest for Master Kron’s Hat
Second graders participated in an interactive, gamified learning experience in the Old Skopje Bazaar. Each student received a handmade historical map to follow secret directions, solve puzzles, decipher codes, and complete challenges as they navigated the bazaar.
Throughout the quest, students observed and learned about traditional crafts and trades that have been practiced in Skopje for centuries. They engaged with their surroundings and collaborated with team members to discover and return the lost hat of Master Kron. The activity took place on foot, encouraged group problem-solving, and incorporated visual, tactile, and social learning elements.
The field trip supported the unit of study on different types of stories, including folk and fairy tales. The storytelling component is connected directly to oral storytelling traditions, which are central to folk literature. This real-world narrative experience helped students understand how stories are passed down, adapted, and brought to life in interactive ways, deepening their comprehension of narrative structure and genre characteristics.
With this, I wish you a great week ahead.
Warm regards, Julie
