Lunch Menu # 2 (Week of May 18-22)
Dear Elementary Parents & Community,
Thank you for attending last week’s student-led conferences. It was a powerful experience for students to showcase their learning and growth with you. Reflection is a key component of the PYP, and students spent hours preparing for the conferences by thoughtfully reflecting on their learning. The children were incredibly proud to share their work.
Students in first through fifth grade will take the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test next week. Please make sure your child arrives on time, has eaten breakfast before coming to school, and gets a good night’s rest. That is all the preparation they need to do their best.
Tomorrow we have an ES Spirit Day! It's HAT DAY! Students may wear any type of hat they want to show their school spirit.
Smart Screen
This week, we will focus our Smart Screen Series on recognizing screen-related symptoms in children. The best thing you can do for your child, as we’ve addressed in each article, is to limit the amount of screen time each week. Another important factor is monitoring what your children are engaging with online.
Class Placements for the 2026-2027 School Year
Spring is a bustling season as we gear up for the upcoming school year! While we don't accept parent requests for particular teachers, we welcome "friend requests" for students in KG-GR 4. Kindly list at least FIVE friends with whom you would like your child to be placed in the same class. We will do our best to place your child with at least one person from the list. We will not honor the request if you don’t put in at least five names. Late submissions will not be accepted. The deadline for requests is May 25, 2025.
Participation in this is entirely optional. Our teachers engage in a comprehensive process to form well-rounded groups. We prioritize creating diverse groups, considering factors such as nationality, gender, academic performance, and social/emotional needs to achieve balance. If you want to submit a "friend request" for your child, please email Ms. Natasa at natasa.mitevska@nova.edu.mk.
Featured Learning - First Grade
Our First Grade students have been learning all about the rainforest ecosystem! They explored the different layers of the rainforest, discovered how plants and animals depend on one another, and learned how changes in the environment can affect the balance of the whole system. They also went on a hands-on field trip to Jumping Clay, where each student created a rainforest animal. We are so proud of their curiosity and excitement for learning about our amazing Earth!
With this, I wish you a great week ahead.
Warm regards, Julie
