Lunch Menu # 4 (Week of December 8-12)
Dear Elementary Parents and Community,
Last Thursday, our faculty participated in a day of professional learning focused on AI, safeguarding, ethics, and best practices. Teachers selected from a range of online courses tailored to their individual needs. Opportunities to learn together as a Pre-K–Grade 12 team are rare, and with the rapid pace at which AI is evolving, it is essential that we stay ahead of the learning curve in this area.
It has also been a busy and productive week for our elementary students. They completed their second Math Benchmark assessment, which helps us monitor growth and design targeted learning pathways. In addition, students spent time rehearsing for the upcoming Winter Performance. Please pay attention to the dress code and rehearsal schedule included in this letter. Please note that all first through fifth graders will have a Winter Performance rehearsal on December 9 at the NOB, National Opera and Ballet Center. The school will transport the students. They will return to school for lunch and then depart at 1:00 for the day. All students, Pre-K-Grade 5 will dismiss at 1:00.
Featured Learning
Grade 5 Wax Museum
Fifth graders brought history to life by transforming our school into a living “wax museum” featuring explorers from the Viking Age to the Space Age. Dressed in creative costumes and delivering memorized speeches, students highlighted the achievements and impact of figures such as Zheng He and Christopher Columbus. Through research, journey logs, and rehearsals with classmates, they deepened their understanding of exploration while strengthening their confidence, collaboration, and public-speaking skills. Their pride during the event was a clear reflection of the success of this engaging learning experience.
Poetry Café
On Tuesday, November 25, the Elementary division hosted a poetry cafe. Students were brave to get up and read aloud their original poetry. The children made us proud by writing about friendship, pets, and sports.
Dress Code For Winter Performance
Preparations are underway for our annual Winter Performance. As always, we would like to make this event very special, so we kindly ask you to support us in purchasing certain articles of clothing. These, of course, will belong to you after the
performance.
We request that you put the amount of money specified in an envelope with your child’s name and grade level, by Wednesday, 26th November at the latest, and give it to the homeroom teacher for ES students.
Please find the DRESS CODE - here.
We would appreciate it if they came on the evening of the performance with the specified hairstyles.
Thank you in advance for your understanding, support, and assistance.
