8.4 Dismissal

A dismissal is an involuntary separation from employment.

8.4.1 Notification of Dismissal

An employee who is not temporary (see section 2.2.4) and who is dismissed will receive written notification stating the effective date of dismissal. A merit system employee’s (see sections 2.2.1 and 2.2.2) notification will also state the reason for dismissal.

8.4.2 Appeal of Dismissal

A merit system employee (see sections 2.2.1 and 2.2.2) may appeal a dismissal taken for disciplinary reasons by following the appeals process (see section 7.6.3) set forth in these policies.
