The mapping of the system in Gandhinagar enabled us to understand the socio, economic and cultural ecosystem of Gandhinagar city. The representation of the working of the entire city is done in the form of a giga map. GIGA-mapping is a super extensive mapping across multiple layers and scales, investigating relations between seemingly separated categories. It helped us in visualization of complexity in the systems and in development of organised strategies which would facilitate development of Gandhinagar in context of smart city which we as design student visioned, Thereby each team identified a particular problem area through GIGA map and converted into an opportunity for service design for social change.

The children living in the orphanages remain isolated from society. These children are often seen as taboo or are patronized by the people in the society. This situation leads to several behavioral and social issues in these children, which leave them in a very vulnerable state and children take a very long time to be comfortable in a social environment.
Taking this forward the Case Study of Mother Teresa Charitable Orphanage was done. During our case study we figured out many opportunities within the Orphanage such as:
Educational Kits for the children.
Training program for staff members.
Interactive activities for the children.
Assessment of the talent of the kids.
Social Exclusion.
Resource Management in Orphanage.
Recreational Activities for OSC's in Orphanages.
Transformation of the space within the Orphanage.
Child development refers to the sequence of physical, language, thought and emotional changes that occur in a child from birth to the beginning of adulthood. During this process a child progresses from dependency on their parents/guardians to increasing independence. Child development is strongly influenced by genetic factors (genes passed on from their parents) and events during prenatal life. It is also influenced by environmental facts, while current smart city plans seem to focus on tangible outcomes that pertain to physical aspects of development, they fall short of addressing the requirements of the country’s human capital, including the welfare and well-being of all children. One such reality is the issue of Child Sexual Abuse, which hinders child's socio-economic growth , CSA remains a taboo but it’s a very real problem in India, and the situation is aided by the absence of effective legislation and the silence that surrounds the offence. To understand the system and it's effort towards protecting the children we went ahead to study the functioning of State child protection society established under the Ministry of women and child development and following opportunities were mapped in light with child's development.
Identifying the victim of sexual abuse and providing rehabiliation
Educating children about their rights
Helping parents to read the early signs of sexual abuse in child
Helping parents to understand child development at different stages of child's growth.
Giving alternative solution for child engagement for preventing child labour
protection from physical and mental health hazzards
Educating children about good touch and bad touch in their surroundings
Bridging communication gap between child and parents
In India, about 26.8 million people are differently-abled as per the 2011 census. People with disabilities are often seen as wicked or deceitful, or as unable to progress to adulthood and dependent on charity and pity for assistance. This is as opposed to an emphasis on the strengths people possess despite their disabilities, and their potential for adaptation. There is a need of support, customised infrastructure, and a friendly society.
Sports plays a key role in the lives and communities of people with disabilities, the same as it can for people without a disability. Participation in para sports offers a chance for the differently abled to enhance their physical and social skills. Para-athletes are placed in categories for competition based on their impairment; called as sport classes. The classification in para sports is a process that allows for fair competition between people with different types of disabilities.
The opportunities in para sports are:
Awareness of Para Sports
Access to amenities for differently abled in para sports
Sponsors for para athlete for their performance internationally
Funding for para sports
Breaking the belief system in the society
Talent hunt at grass-root level
Classification of differently abled for para sports
