The Sports Authority of India (SAI) was established in 1984 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for the development of sports in India. The aim is talent scouting at micro level & nurturing talent towards excellence, support training with scientific & sports, monitor and enhance performance with a scientific evaluation system, training and preparation of national teams, sports infrastructure development and to build physical educationists of high caliber in different disciplines of sports.
In 2015, the SAI Gandhinagar was declared as the 'nodel centre', Centre of Excellence in para sports. Para Sports or Disabled sports refers to sport practiced by people with disabilities. including visual, physical and intellectual disabilities.
Para sports is important as it serves a vital social and cultural function in the society and helps in all round development of human personality. It provides ample scope and healthy means for recreation and relaxation of human mind and society. In India, the infrastructure is not differently abled friendly and it is tough for differently able to be independent. Para sports is a way to be independent, empowered and respected in the society for differently abled.
The objective of this study is to understand the functioning of a central government body, it's structure, the stakeholders, the relationship between the stakeholders, the journey mapping and the customer's journey. The case study provides a holistic view and approach to the system which helps in identifying the gaps in the organisation.
The SAI follows a hierarchical structure where every entity in the organisation, except one, is subordinate to a single other entity. This arrangement is a form of a hierarchy. The state body answers to the head office and the communication typically flows from the top to the bottom.
