[A conceptual representation of Akkad Bakkad's service flow]
Akkad Bakkad ties up with an organisation focusing on Children with Special needs.
Through the organisation, Akkad Bakkad reaches out to Parents.
Parents contact Akkad Bakkad, when in need.
Akkad Bakkad learns about the participants (special children + siblings), including their interests and their abilities.
Akkad Bakkad refers to the information gathered about the participants and comes up with a set of activities for the siblings to perform, such that they both enjoy the process and find it challenging.
Children return home with happy faces.
Akkad Bakkad's target Personas include the siblings of special children. The personas represent a fair mix of families having either the special child as the elder child or converse. Four different scenarios are depicted here which might benefit from the intervention of Akkad Bakkad.
Akkad Bakkad aims to enhance interaction between siblings, which means it will help in cases of disharmony to better the relationship as well as in cases of an existing healthy relationship to build on it even better and stronger.
Either in case of the sibling being younger or older, maturity and a sense of responsibility does overtake them.
Some of the siblings yearn for a regular childhood, but are not able to say it.
In some cases, the siblings are ready to go out of their way in the interest of their special sibling's development, but lack guidance and direction to go about it. They also feel frustrated sometimes, about their circumstances.
In all the cases that we studied, there was a specific time in the day when the special child and the sibling interacted and spent quality time together. Yet, some difficulties were faced by the siblings during that time that they didn't know how to deal with.
A common platform for special children and their siblings to have fun together
Curated set of activites for each pair of siblings that align with their interests and abilities
Development of special children in an inclusive environment
A safe and judgement-free space for siblings to openly express their suppressed thoughts or emotions, and also have questions answered, about their special sibling's condition
The following is a description of the Service milestones to be achieved before, during, and after the service is run.
Below is an outline of all the key Stakeholders involved, a mapping of the interconnections between them, their interactions, and the purpose of those interactions. This mapping tells us the involvement of all the people in the execution of the service and will help in organisation and work allocation.
The flow of the User Journey is as follows:
Unintentional reception or Intention Seeking of information about Akkad Bakkad
Getting in touch with Akkad Bakkad
Registering with Akkad Bakkad and filling an 'Interests form' about the interests and abilities of the Special child and their sibling.
Reception of information about the first session of the service with Akkad Bakkad.
Attending the first session that has inclusive activities for all the participants. Takeaways, activity kits and activity outcomes are carried home.
A reminder for attending the second session is received.
The second session is just for the sibling. It begins with a ice breaking session, followed by a session of counselling - conducted by an expert. The siblings are given takeaways to carry home.
The Parents / Siblings are requested to fill an online feedback form covering the two sessions.
After 15 days another feedback form about the activity kit and its use at home is filled.
While the user goes through each activity, there is an entire front end as well as back end team of Akkad Bakkad, working for the implementation of activities. Support Services are externally acquired and play a very important role.
There are multiple roles that work in the front as well as the back end. Our consideration of each role is on the basis of the work priority, i.e., who is more important where.
Also, we analysed the intentions behind each of the major steps of our service, such as Registration, First Session, and Second Session (which are mentioned above the Service Flow in brackets).
