Road Trip
This year, over the holidays, we took a road trip to visit family in Kansas. With almost 40 total hours of driving, it is the longest road trip I’ve taken so far!
To make the journey more enjoyable and to stay active, I planned stops every few hours and included short (<1 hour) hikes. I’m so glad we did this because it gave us the chance to see some beautiful sights which we probably would not ever see otherwise. These small detours made the long drive manageable and fun! We saw waterfalls in Tennessee, bison and elk in Kentucky, a beautiful spring in Missouri, drove through the Flint Hills of Kansas, explored arches in the Red River Gorge, and got snowed out of a hike in the mountains of Virginia.
I thought I’d share a few photos—some of our quick stops ended up being highlights of the trip.
