It is Cold!!!

It is cold!!! The coldest temperature recorded in the last few days was 19 degrees Fahrenheit on January 17, 2024. But I felt the coldest on January 20, 2024. It was windy! The wind chill on January 20 was 5 degrees Fahrenheit!! The coldest temperature ever recorded in Raleigh since 1945 is -9 degrees Fahrenheit (-23°C) on January 21, 1985.
When the temperature is low, we want to bundle up with a cozy blanket and stay in front of TV with a cup of hot chocolate. Exercising in cold weather increases the risk of hypothermia; however, it has a lot of benefits.
You can exercise more efficiently in winter because you sweat less. Studies showed that exercising in the cold turns white fat (storing extra energy) into brown fat (increasing metabolism), meaning you can burn body fat more efficiently.
Cold weather exercises strengthen your heart health because the heart works harder to pump blood.
It boosts your immune system. Exercising will help you fight off illness and reduce the likelihood of catching a cold.
Exercising or going outside will improve your mood. This is not a seasonal benefit. But seasonal affective disorder becomes more apparent during the winter, and spending some time outside and exercising will help you feel better.
Days are short in the winter. Vitamin D deficiency is high during the winter. Going outside in cold weather can help replenish vitamin D levels in your skin.
Spend some time outside to refresh your mind and take a break from your busy schedule.
