Joan Conway

Professional appointment:  Associate Professor Professional profile: Associate Professor in the School of Education and Associate Director–Research, Leadership Research International (LRI) at the University of Southern Queensland.  Joan has over 40 years of experience in education spanning primary, secondary and tertiary sectors in classroom and administrative leadership positions in two countries, with research and consultative networks in an increasing number of countries of the northern and southern hemispheres.
Joan’s current academic position embraces the areas of educational leadership, school improvement processes, capacity building for pedagogical design and leadership, and professional learning.  She is actively engaged in the facilitation of IDEAS, a school revitalisation project for school improvement, adopted by several educational systems and independent schools.
As a Fellow and a long term active member of executive positions in each of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders and the Australian College of Educators, Joan advocates for the professional stance of educators.
