Clelia Pineda-Báez

Associate ProfessorFacultad de EducaciónUniversidad de La Sabana, Colombia. Professional profile: Associate Professor and Researcher of the Doctoral Program in Education and the Master in Didactics of English for Self-Directed Learning of the School of Education at Universidad de La Sabana, Colombia. She is the director of the research group “Educación y Educadores” (Teaching and Teachers). She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to do advanced studies in the USA and holds a PhD in Education and an MA in TEFL from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She has been a teacher and researcher for more than 23 years. She is currently working on research projects about principal and teacher leadership in Colombia and in cross-cultural studies on school leaders with colleagues from Australia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica and Spain. Her research has also focused on EFL literacy and curriculum development and on student engagement and student dropout and retention at the high school and tertiary education levels in her country. She is also a lecturer in the Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics to EFL at Universidad Distrital, where she focuses on teacher education, literacy and the design and implementation of support materials for EFL teaching and learning and for stimulating critical thinking.
