today i helped lauren attach an arm on our robot and we are now playing around with claw ideas, so it wont be too heavy this time.
Lauren
Today in class, I realize that the claw was too heavy for the motor. Last class period, Katie was able to take the arm off of the robot which was super helpful, and I was able to start bulding. I used REV parts because they are lighter.
I used rev and gobuilda parts to attatch a REV channel onto the large gear that connects the arm to the rest of the robot.
Then I went on an added an extra bolt to secure it because the REV parts were bouncing with the robot when it moved.
The robot did a much better job at lifting the arm, but when I added our origional claw, it was still too heavy.
In order to make the claw lighter, I took off the servo that allowed it to flip upsidedown, and instead just attatched it directly to the lift using REV parts.
From the new angle that the claw was sitting, it had difficulties picking up the cups, so I added syrofoam to the claws and secured them with rubber bands in order to have a stronger grip.
This is the final design, we just have to figure out a way to angle the claw so we can get the cup on the highest pole.

I was not in class due to helping Mrs. Williams' DI class since she had her baby.
