The BC Graduation Program requires grade 12 students to complete their final passion or interest-based inquiry process and present their Capstone project. Students will be held accountable for 30 hours (Ministry of Education requirement) that can be obtained through accumulation of one or all of the following: work, volunteer or career experiences.

Work Experience 12A and 12B

The primary goal of work experience is to help students prepare for the transition from secondary school to the world of work. Goals include helping students to: · Connect what they learn in the classroom with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed in the workplace · Gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to be successful in the world of work · Develop job readiness skills for specific occupations and careers · Understand the similarities and differences in behaviour standards between the workplace and school

REQUIREMENTS TO EARN CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Register your work experience placement(s) with the Career Center. ·

  • Work Experience 12 A – Accumulate at least 100 hours of paid or unpaid work experience.

  • Work Experience 12 B – Students need to accumulate another 100 hours beyond what they used for Work Experience A.

  • Complete a post-work experience evaluation and report and submit it to Mr. Charland. Work Experience is available to Grades 10 & 11 as well. For more information, see the Career Centre.
