Ascension Seton Cedar Park gives Leander ISD Health Science Practicum students the chance to shadow professionals in hospital administration, nursing, radiology and outpatient specialties like neurology, orthopedics, pulmonology and women’s health.
"This partnership has been essential to the experiences of our practicum students and preparing for real life careers in the healthcare industry," CPHS health science teacher Amy Buffington said. "Students were able to work with nurse educators and gain real life skills practice such as phlebotomy. We are grateful for the relationships we have built with Ascension Seton Cedar Park and look forward to growing our partnership!"
Thank you, Ascension Seton Cedar Park, for investing in our students and helping them take their first steps toward future healthcare careers!
From helping Rouse High School revive its print newspaper, The Raider Rumbler, to hosting advisers for an insightful industry visit day, the Community Impact team—led by founder and CEO John Garrett—has gone above and beyond to give students and teachers a firsthand look at the world of professional journalism.
Students and staff had the opportunity to tour the facility, meet with reporters, and engage in meaningful discussions about the industry. Community Impact also welcomed junior Skyler King from CPHS for a full-day shadowing experience, providing valuable real-world exposure.
Thank you, Community Impact, for your dedication to supporting the next generation of storytellers!
This month, we proudly recognize Aubury Holmes of the Leander Fire Department for his outstanding dedication and service in training the next generation of first responders.
Over the course of three days, Mr. Holmes provided high-quality instruction to 20 of our Criminal Justice students, certifying them in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) readiness. Not only did he equip them with lifesaving skills, but he also ensured they were prepared for real-world emergencies by providing personal protective gear and CERT backpacks.
Thanks to his leadership, these students are now certified for life and ready to serve their communities when it matters most.
