The Accounting and Financial Services Program of Study teaches students personal and professional money management skills. Students will use a variety of analytical tools and software platforms to understand and evaluate how money flows through a business, establish personal and/or business budgets, prepare and interpret financial statements or even build a personal investment portfolio. By choosing the courses offered in this program students will learn the skills needed to prepare for financial service careers including accounting, banking, corporate finance, auditing, and financial planning.

Work-Based Learning opportunities may include:
Internship - gain experience by interning with a CPA, handing bookkeeping and financial tasks for a small business, or tracking donations for a nonprofit
Job Shadow - spend a day or more observing professionals in different accounting and financial roles (CPA firm, bank, credit union, or corporate finance department)
School-Based Enterprise - support with budget and bookkeeping for the campus school store
Competitions - while not direct work experiences, participating in DECA competitions can involve development of practical skills and simulated real-world scenarios (ex: Accounting Application Series, Business Finance Series, etc.); prepare and compete in the UIL Accounting Contest
Field Trips and Guest Speakers - gain understanding of a variety of career paths and insight into the industry from professionals
While most of these course opportunities don't apply to Program of Study completion, some may. Students are advised to consider them to strengthen preparation.
