The Cosmetology and Personal Care Services Program of Study introduces students to knowledge and skills related to providing beauty and personal care services. Students coordinate integration of academic, career, and technical knowledge and skills in this laboratory instructional program to provide job-specific training for employment in cosmetology careers. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation procedures, hair care, nail care, and skin care and meets the TDLR requirements for license upon passing the state examination. Analysis of career opportunities, license requirements, knowledge and skills expectations, and development of workplace skills are included.

Work-Based Learning opportunities may include:
Job Shadow - spend a day or more observing professionals in the cosmetology field
School-Based Enterprise - perform services on real clients under the supervision of a licensed instructor, providing hands-on practice in all aspects of cosmetology, including hair cutting, coloring, styling, skin care, nail care, and customer service
Competitions - while not direct work experiences, participating in SkillsUSA competitions can involve development of practical skills and simulated real-world scenarios (ex: Cosmetology, Barbering, Nail Care, Esthetics)
Field Trips and Guest Speakers - gain understanding of a variety of career paths and insight into the industry from professionals
