Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are a student-led organization aimed at promoting leadership, personal development, and career readiness in specific Career and Technical Education (CTE) fields. These organizations provide students with opportunities to enhance their skills through leadership training, competitions, networking, community service, and hands-on experiences relevant to their chosen careers. Leander ISD offers student opportunities in DECA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, SkillsUSA, TAFE, and National Technical Honor Society.

Work-Based Learning encompasses a variety of experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world work environments. This can include guest speakers, field trips, job shadowing internships and more, providing students with valuable insights into their chosen careers and helping them develop essential professional skills.

Students are allowed two days during their junior year and two days during their senior year to miss school for the purpose of a Career Investigation Day. A Career Investigation Day (CIDay) is an opportunity for students to visit a professional at the professional’s workplace to determine the student’s interest in pursuing a career in the professional’s field.
