The Health and Wellness program of study introduces students to knowledge and skills related to promoting physical, emotional, social, and mental health and wellness. Students who choose this program of study may learn how to assist patients in planning for their health and wellness, respond to crises, and advise, provide education or counseling, or make referrals. Students may also focus on addressing barriers to access health and wellness services.

Students who complete the Program of Study and earn an aligned certification identified with the🏅 symbol achieve the College & Career Military Readiness distinction.
Work-Based Learning opportunities may include:
Internship - gain experience by interning at a local gym/fitness center, community mental health organization, food bank, etc.
Job Shadow - spend a day or more observing a variety of health and wellness professionals, such as a dietician at a local hospital, personal trainer, physical therapist, sports nutritionist, or mental health professional
Industry/Service Project - apply knowledge and skills to develop a project for a client or to serve your local community (ex: Meals on Wheels, Hill Country Community Ministries Food Pantry, Kids Teaching Kids)
Competitions - while not direct work experiences, participating in FCCLA competitions can involve development of practical skills and simulated real-world scenarios (ex: Sports Nutrition, Nutrition and Wellness, or Food Innovations)
Field Trips and Guest Speakers - gain understanding of a variety of career paths and insight into the industry from professionals
