All Leander ISD students have the opportunity to enroll in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses along with their traditional core academic courses. CTE courses are designed to provide authentic learning experiences through academically rigorous and industry aligned curriculum. The goal is for students to create a balanced four-year plan that includes the best of both academic and CTE courses.
Students enrolled in certain CTE courses have the opportunity to participate in a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) appropriate to the course in which they are enrolled. CTSOs promote leadership development, job skill training, and can provide scholarship opportunities. Students have the opportunity to reach advanced level CTE courses to increase the rigor of their learning and complete a CTE program of study sequence for an endorsement and/or earn recognized industry certifications.
Dayna Hunter, Education & Training at Leander High School
Ms. Hunter leads a thriving Education & Training (Ready, Set, Teach!) program where students gain hands-on experience through internships across multiple elementary campuses and a middle school. Working alongside certified teachers, students are building confidence, strengthening communication skills and growing into future educators.
"Her dedication to supervising and guiding students in Career Preparation courses ensures they gain real-world experience, professionalism, and workplace readiness," Emily Vera, CTE Department Head, said. "Her impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping future educators and empowering students to pursue careers in education with purpose and confidence.'
Student's in Ms. Hunter's programs have also found success through TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators), competing at the regional and state levels. This year, 10 students qualified for the state competition and two students advanced to nationals with a children’s book they wrote and illustrated. They will represent Leander ISD this summer at the Educators Rising National Conference in Portland, Oregon.
Industry Partner of the Month: Williamson County EMS
We’re proud to recognize Chad and Stacee Henrichs for the meaningful, real-world learning opportunities they provide our CTE students. Their partnership gives students the chance to gain hands-on experience and develop skills that truly matter.

They have also supported students preparing for SkillsUSA competitions, helping them refine their abilities and grow as future professionals.
"Stacee and Chad Henrichs represent exactly what real community partnership is supposed to look like," Jeffery Schiller, Glenn Law & Public Safety teacher, said."They have sacrificed their time, energy, and expertise to help train and protect our kids, not just by teaching certifications, but by showing them what service, professionalism and compassion look like in real life.”
Thank you, Chad and Stacee, for investing in our students and supporting the future of public safety.
