If students want to retake a course to improve their failing grade, they have 2 options:
If the grade is between 50 and 59, they can take Credit Recovery through ILHS Summer School (if it is a core course) or through VirtualSC if it is offered and they can get a seat
For any failing grade of 59 or lower, they can retake the entire course either through VirtualSC if they offer it and they can get a seat or next year at ILHS
Passing Credit Recovery only gives the credit for the course and leaves the original failing grade in the GPA. Retaking the entire course as an initial credit, replaces the failing grade with the new grade in the GPA.
Either way, please keep your ILHS school counselor in the loop about your choices.
Students who plan to play college level sports cannot have credit recovery courses on their transcript per NCAA rules.
