Dear Indian Land High School Community,
As professional school counselors, our primary mission is to help students achieve academic success regardless of their circumstances. This means advocating for what is necessary to remove or at a minimum, decrease barriers and challenges. Further, our goal is to enhance students’ social, emotional, and personal development. This includes but is not limited to advocacy for and collaboration with all stakeholders (parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, community, etc.) to foster an environment that promotes students’ holistic maturity. With students’ academic achievement and career goals being of the utmost significance, we will expend all opportunities to do what is necessary for every student to have equitable access to the resources essential to success. We believe that students are capable of learning and achieving all of their goals, not just academically. In addition, we believe that regardless of students’ background or needs, students will succeed and we will do our part to ensure they are provided with a welcoming and safe environment to thrive. As professional school counselors, we not only utilize data to ensure students are being provided with quality services, but we also monitor student progress along the way, so that we will know the extent to which interventions are effective. Adhering to the standards set forth by the American School Counselor Association is our goal to ensure that all students receive optimal assistance as we work together to maximize all of their potential. A critical part of this process is being in touch with the emotional and social needs of students. Please see the attachment that details our commitment to the wellness of our students and we hope that you find our Wellness Matters information useful. If there is anything that you would like for us to include, please let us know. Be sure to check out the other amazing information filled pages of the Wellness Matters tab!
